Fans on X reacted after the Sri Lanka Cricket Team thumped Bangladesh by 21 runs in the second game of the Super Four stage of the ongoing Asia Cup 2023. The match took place at R.Premadasa Stadium, Colombo and the Dasun Shanaka-led side extended their 12-match winning streak in ODIs.
After being put into bat first, Sri Lanka were off to a decent start despite losing Dimuth Karunaratne (17) early. Pathum Nissanka slammed a vital 40-run knock whereas Kusal Mendis smashed a half-century at No.3. However, they failed to continue after that and lost their wickets quickly.
Sadeera Samarawickrama then made sure that Sri Lanka didn’t throw away the start they got. He carried his hand till the last over despite no support from the other end. Dasun Shanaka chipped in with a valiant knock of 24 runs as his side posted a total of 257 runs on the board.
Bangladesh bowlers kept things tight throughout the innings. Taskin Ahmed and Hasan Mahmud in particular were the key bowlers. They picked three wickets each whereas Shoriful Islam also bagged two scalps as they picked a total of 9 wickets in the innings.
Bangladesh openers Mehidy Hasan Miraz (28) and Mohammad Naim (21) took their side off a decent start, smashing 55 runs for the opening partnership. However, after that stand, the visitors tumbled and lost four wickets quickly. Shakib Al Hasan (3) and Litton Das (3) went back early as they were reduced to 83/4.
Mushfiqur Rahim (29) along with Towhid Hridoy (82) brought some stability in the innings but their 72-run partnership was broken by Dasun Shanaka at a crucial juncture of the game. Also, Sri Lanka made a strong comeback and removed them to be in the driver’s seat.
But Bangladesh’s Nasum Ahmed and Hasan Mahmud gave a real scare to Sri Lanka in the end. They hit some lusty blows in the end but Matheesha Pathirana won the game for his side. Sri Lanka won the game by the margin of 21 runs and won their 13th consecutive ODI.

Srilanka is the best in Asian team as of now. They are not much dependent on star players and very quick to adopt to the situation. Complete agile team in nature. What do you say? #SLvBAN
