SL vs PAK: Asitha Fernando Makes Comeback In Sri Lanka Squad For 2nd Test Against Pakistan

Sri Lanka pacer Asitha Fernando will be available to play in the forthcoming Sri Lanka vs Pakistan 2nd Test. Asitha Fernando was added to the Sri Lanka squad as the 17th member. He was part of the squad from the start of the series but could not play in the opening game.
Sri Lanka vs Pakistan 2nd Test begins on July 4 (Monday) at Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo. Sri Lanka vs Pakistan Test series comprises only two games. Pakistan lead the series 1-0.

Asitha Fernando To Be Back In Sri Lanka Squad For 2nd Test Vs Pakistan
Asitha Fernando was also part of the squad for the 1st Test. However, he contracted dengue before the match and was dropped from the side. Dilshan Madushanka replaced him in the squad.
Now, Asitha Fernando is back in the squad after recovering from dengue. However, there is no news of Dilshan Madushanka being removed from the Sri Lanka squad. Asitha Fernando is a right-arm pacer who has played 11 Tests for Sri Lanka so far.
The 25-year-old accounts for 32 wickets in 17 innings at an average of 27.53. He is an emerging pacer for Sri Lanka who has shown a marvelous performance after making his Test debut in January 2021.

Pakistan Leading The Series 1-0
Meanwhile, Pakistan are leading the two-match series 1-0 after the opening game. The Babar Azam-led side won the 1st Test by 4 wickets. In the thrilling clash, Sri Lanka batted first and piled up 312-10 on the board with a century by Dhananjaya de Silva (122).
Later, Pakistan hit 461-10 in 1st innings, taking a 149-run lead. Saud Shakeel scored an impeccable double ton for Pakistan, smacking unbeaten 208 runs. In the 2nd innings, Pakistan bowled out Sri Lanka for 279.
Nishan Madushka (52) and Dhananjaya de Silva (82) hit fifties for the team. However, Pakistan comfortably chased down the 131-run target by 4 wickets. Hence, Sri Lanka need to win the 2nd Test to tie the series.
