Sri Lanka have made a positive start in the ongoing three-match ODI series against Zimbabwe. Sri Lankan bowlers were guilty of bowling too many bad deliveries and Zimbabwe, as a result, posted a formidable score of 296 runs in the first innings. Sri Lanka, however, batted exceptionally well and chased down the score in 48.3 overs.
Ahead of the second ODI, Sri Lanka would look to continue the winning momentum and seal the series. Here’s a look at Sri Lanka’s predicted playing Eleven for the second ODI.
SL vs ZIM- Sri Lanka’s Predicted Playing XI vs Zimbabwe, Zimbabwe Tour of Sri Lanka 2022, 2nd ODI
Openers: Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Mendis

Pathum Nissanka was brilliant in the last game while opening the innings. He set the tone with a brilliant knock of 75 runs in 71 deliveries.
His partner, Kusal Mendis played some good-looking shots in pursuit of his short 26-run knock off 24 deliveries. Both are expected to open the innings in the second ODI as well.
Middle-Order: Kamindu Mendis, Dinesh Chandimal and Charith Asalanka

Kamindu Mendis had a forgettable outing in the last game as he struggled his way to 17 off 24 balls. The wicket-keeper batsman has only played 5 ODIs thus far and the team management would want him to play all three matches of the series.
The other two batsmen in the middle-order, Dinesh Chandimal, and Charith Asalanka, played match-defining knocks in the last game. Chandimal scored 75 runs in 91 deliveries, while Asalanka amassed 71 off 68 deliveries. The duo will, once again, will be key to Sri Lanka’s fortune in the second ODI.
All-rounders: Dasun Shanaka and Chamika Karunaratne

Dasun Shanaka didn’t get a lot of deliveries to play in the last game. He remained unbeaten on 10 off 12 deliveries, while Chamika Karunaratne made 5 off 2 balls. Karunaratne was handy with the ball as he picked 3 wickets but also conceded 69 runs in 10 overs. Both playing the second ODI should be a no-brainer.
Bowlers: Maheesh Theekshana, Jeffrey Vandersay, Praveen Jayawickrama, and Nuwan Pradeep

Zimbabwe looked to play Maheesh Theekshana out in the last game. The Sri Lanka spinner couldn’t pick a single wicket but conceded only 40 runs in 10 overs.
He will, once again, lead the spin attack. The other spinners in the playing XI are likely to be Jeffrey Vandersay and Praveen Jayawickrama. The latter should replace Chamika Gunasekara in the playing XI
