Smriti Mandhana drops bold statement, says 'don't compare Virat Kohli with me'

India Women's National Cricket Team batter Smriti Mandhana talked about her comparison with Premier India batter Virat Kohli. She said that people shouldn't compare her with him based on the No.18 Jersey that they wear.

India Women batter Smriti Mandhana is touted as the queen of Indian cricket. This is because she has set the stage on fire in all three formats and is arguably one of the best batters going around in women's cricket let alone the India National Cricket Team.

On the other hand, Virat Kohli has no comparison as he is one of the greatest ever to have played the game. His being on the same page as that of Sachin Tendulkar and Viv Richards speaks a lot about what he has achieved in his career and is still going strong.

Both Mandhana and Virat Kohli play for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the Women's Premier League and the Indian Premier League respectively. They also don the same Jersey no.18 and it has often seen many fans and experts comparing the Women's batter with the Indian batter.

While calling Virat Kohli a great player, she stated that people touting her the same as Kohli is all baseless as the right-hander has achieved a lot for Indian cricket. Speaking on Sustainable Tea with Shreya, she said:

"Virat Kohli is a great player. What he has achieved for Indian cricket in his career is amazing. I don't like comparisons, Don't compare him with me just because I'm wearing a No.18 Jersey."

Smriti Mandhana since the last few months has been going through the rich vein of form. The batter has been scoring truckloads of runs for the team in all three formats of the game. She has been one of the main reasons behind the team's dominance in the white-ball as well as red-ball cricket.

Smriti Mandhana will be next seen in action in the T20 World Cup 2024. The batter would be keen to carry her golden form with the bat in the tournament. If she continues doing what she has been doing for the last few months, India automatically becomes favorites for the title.

The tournament is all set to take place in Asian county from 3rd October to 20th October across the two venues. The T20 World Cup 2024 is set to be played over 18 days and 10 teams are scheduled to play 23 fixtures at two venues in Bangladesh.
