Indian cricketer Smriti Mandhana's marriage plans were halted after her father was hospitalised on the day of her marriage, which led to its postponement. Now the couple and their friends have deleted the social media posts related to their wedding.

Indian women's cricketer Smriti Mandhana won the ICC ODI World Cup in 2025, which might be considered the best year of her career. She also excelled in the tournament and finished as the second-highest run-getter in the tournament.

Smriti then announced her wedding to her longtime beau, Palash Muchhal, after he proposed to her from the same venue where she won the World Cup.

However, her wedding was halted when her father suffered symptoms of a heart attack and had to be hospitalised immediately on her wedding day.

On Monday, Indian cricketer Smriti Mandhana took down all her wedding-related posts from social media. This came after her marriage to Palash Muchhal was postponed due to a sudden health emergency.

This move has further surprised the fans of the cricketer, as though her wedding has been postponed, it yet remains a matter of interest among their fans. Even all the other teammates of the women's cricketer who were seen participating enthusiastically in her wedding function have also resorted to deleting the posts.

As per the latest reports from TOI, the decision to take down the posts came after the unexpected events in the family. After Mandhana's father, her fiancé were also admitted to the hospital, which has led to a pause in both celebrations and social media activity.

Other than Smriti Mandhana, her teammates Jemimah Rodrigues and Shreyanka Patil also took down the engagement announcement video from their profiles. This has triggered concern online; however, the cricketer has retained older personal photos with Palash.

The wedding has been postponed for an indefinite period

Smriti Mandhana's manager, Tuhin Mishra, has been addressing the media lately since her wedding was halted; he even informed about the indefinite period for which the wedding has been postponed.

According to him, the Indian cricketer refused to proceed with the ceremony while her father remained hospitalised. He also stated that the family had previously hoped that his condition would improve within a few hours, but his condition worsened.

He added that Mandhana was in “no frame of mind to continue with the events” given the emotional situation.

Palash Muchhal's sister, Palak Muchhal, issues a statement

After the events were postponed, Palash Muchhal's sister, the renowned Bollywood singer Palak Muchhal, also issued a brief statement through her Instagram story. She urged fans to be considerate during the period and not speculate about anything, since the wedding has been halted only due to Mr Mandhana's health.

"Due to Smriti's dad's health, Smriti and Palaash's wedding has been put on hold. Would request all of you to respect the privacy of the families in this sensitive time," wrote Palak Muchhal on her Instagram Story.
