Sourav Ganguly’s comeback to Eden Gardens has been delayed as the head of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) backed out of the Legends League on Saturday, 3 September, claiming personal reasons.
Fans in Kolkata have been awaiting ten years to see hometown hero Ganguly take the field again, but according to insiders, that is no longer the case.
Sources in the know revealed to India Today that Ganguly would not be taking a part in the one-off game, in the Legends League where Indian Maharajas were scheduled to face World XI, led by Eoin Morgan.
Sourav Ganguly has withdrawn from the game citing personal reasons:
People were also prepared to watch the reunion of former cricket players. Because Virender Sehwag and Harbhajan Singh once played for him, Ganguly was enthusiastic about the game. But this time, even if the other previous players participate, it is likely that Sourav will not be seen taking part in the game.
Sourav Ganguly has reportedly withdrawn out of the match due to personal concerns, according to reports. Sanjay Das, a friend from Sourav Ganguly’s youth, plays a significant part in the project.
It is anticipated that Ganguly’s departure from the game will lessen the intense excitement that was created. Many spectators would have come to the field to witness Sourav’s aggressive captaincy and aggressive batting once more, but it may not happen again.
Four teams will compete in 16 matches spread over six cities in the upcoming LLC season. The first game will take place on September 16 at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata, and there will also be matches in Lucknow, New Delhi, Cuttack, and Jodhpur.
