South Africa Playing 11 vs Zimbabwe- 2nd Test, South Africa tour of Zimbabwe 2025:
Openers: Matthew Breetzke, Tony de Zorzi
The Proteas will continue to open the innings with Tony de Zorzi and Matthew Breetzke at the top of the order in the upcoming second and final Test against Zimbabwe.
The openers will look to right the wrongs of the previous match, where the WTC champions found themselves in a spot of bother after being reduced to 55/4 by Zimbabwe's new ball bowlers.
Tony de Zorzi, who is one of the senior batters in South Africa's batting lineup, will have to get a big score under his belt.
Breetzke, on the other hand, who has played a handful of Test matches, will be itching to put on a strong show with the bat.
Breetzke and Tony de Zorzi would like to be cautious while batting first against the Zimbabwean pacers as they might get help from the surface in the first hour of play on day one.
Middle-order batsmen and all-rounders: Dewald Brevis, David Bedingham, Lhuan-dre Pretorius, Wiaan Mulder (c), Kyle Verreynne (wk), Lesego Senokwane, Corbin Bosch
The opening pair will be followed by two young batters, Dewald Brevis and Lhuan-dre-Pretorius, with David Bedingham being the other batter in the top five
Pretorius and Brevis are coming into the game on the back of match-winning innings, which bailed the team out of trouble.
The former scored his maiden Test century, 153 runs to be precise, and was well supported by the latter, who notched up a half-century.
The good work done by the duo was carried forward by all rounder Corbin Bosch who scored a century and picked up five wickets in first and second innings respectively.
Bowlers: Codi Yusuf, Lungi Ngidi
The visitors will have to make a forced change with the team's captain for this series, Keshav Maharaj, ruled out of the second Test due to injury.
Lesego Senokwane can be one of the options to replace Maharaj in a playing XI, which will also see the return of Lungi Ngidi, who wasn't a part of the squad for the first game.
Like in the first game, South Africa are predicted to go in with three fast bowlers and one spinner, with Mulder, who will lead the side in Maharaj's absence, being the fourth fast bowling option.
Having said the combination might change depending on what kind of surface is presented to the Proteas on the morning of the game.
If we go by how the pitch played in the first Test, it would be a smart decision to play three genuine fast bowlers, as the surface had a little uneven bounce in the last game.
South Africa might decide to go in with an extra spinner if they feel that the pitch will assist the slow bowlers as the match progresses.
