The South African side has reportedly agreed to a series against Pakistan. It has sent its delegation to review conditions in the country before approving any schedule for a long tour, which would feature Tests, ODIs, and T20s.
The Pakistan National Cricket Team often is not known to have relished home-ground advantages, as over the years, many teams have debarred themselves from featuring in the nation. South Africa also last played a Test series with them back in 2021.
However, the Proteas were seen featuring in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 on Pakistani soil, where they lost in the semi-finals to New Zealand. Hence, Cricket South Africa has agreed to venture a proposal of PCB to feature in a long tour in Pakistan.
Pakistan to host South Africa for a Test series after Four Years
After more than four years, South Africa is preparing to feature in a 2-match Test series on Pakistani soil alongside their white-ball tour, which would mark a close watch of subcontinent conditions for their players ahead of the upcoming ICC event.
The series is likely to begin on October 12. The tour will feature 2 Tests, 3 ODIs, and 3 T20Is, and the proposed schedule has come to light. As per sources of Pakistani media, the first Test will be played from October 12 to 16 at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, while the action for the second Test moves to the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium from October 20 to 24.
This will be followed by an engaging ODI schedule, which will mark three ODIs to be played in Lahore and the Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad, marking the return of international cricket to the city after a huge gap of 17 years.
South Africa cites Pakistan and India series to adapt to sub-continent tracks ahead of next T20 World Cup
The African Women will soon be turning to Pakistan to feature in a white-ball ODI series marking the initiation of preparations for the upcoming Women's World Cup this year in India and Sri Lanka.
On the other hand, the South Africans, who usually do not struggle under Indian conditions, as they showed in the CWC 2023 and the Champions Trophy 2025 by qualifying for the semi-finals of both competitions, would still be focusing on some exposure to their new players on the sub-continent tracks.
They have hence decided to feature against Pakistan as well, while the Indian tour has been finalized for a long time and is a much-hyped tour after the end of the Australian white-ball series for the Men in Blue.
PCB awaits the South African delegation's report to announce the schedule post Asia Cup
According to details from the Pakistan media reports, ahead of their men's and women's teams touring Pakistan for their respective series, the CSA has sent in its delegation to the country, which is reviewing the arrangements.
These steps had to be taken, citing that Pakistan was in a state of war earlier this year, and the security of their players is a prime concern for any cricket board. The PCB too has reportedly agreed on the same and is hence awaiting a response from the delegatory committee ahead of proposing the schedule for the men's series.
