Former Indian fast bowler and a member of the 2011 World Cup and 2007 T20 WC-winning team, S Sreesanth has been included in Kerala’s squad for the 2021 edition of the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 tournament.
Sreesanth, whose ban for his involvement in the 2013 IPL spot-fixing scandal imposed by the BCCI, ended earlier this year, resumed his training back in June, including with the Kerala U-23 team and a few senior players at a Kerala Cricket Association facility in Ernakulam.
The former Indian International had subsequently found a place in the 26-man probables list, released by KCA.
Meanwhile, the Kerala squad will be led by Sanju Samson and Sachin Baby will serve as his deputy. Apart from Samson, Sreesanth, and Baby, other prominent members in the Kerala squad include Robin Uthappa, Jalaj Saxena, Basil Thampi, Vishnu Vinod, and Mohammed Azheruddin.
The fresh faces in the set-up include Vathsal Govind Sharma, Sreeroop MP, Midhun PK, and Rojith KG.
Kerala will kickstart their 2021 Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 campaign against Puducherry on January 11. They have been placed in Elite Group E alongside Mumbai, Delhi, Haryana, Andhra, and Puducherry, and all of their league-stage matches will be held in Mumbai.
