Lucknow Super Giants will be without their fast-bowler Mohsin Khan for their crucial game against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Wednesday (May 8).
The Lucknow-based outfit will be desperate to return to winning ways tonight to bolster their playoffs chances after suffering a crushing defeat in the last game. LSG suffered a 98-run defeat against Kolkata Knight Riders in their last outing.
The heavy defeat has also dealt a huge blow to their net run-rate. LSG will not only be eyeing a win against SRH but will also be looking to win by a good margin to improve the net run rate. However, they will have to do it without Mohsin Khan as he was unavailable for the game.
Mohsin Khan not available:
Speaking at the toss, LSG skipper KL Rahul confirmed that the pacer is sidelined with an injury. While he did not reveal the exact injury, it could be the head injury he suffered in the last game while fielding. Mohsin Khan suffered a concussion after hitting his head on the ground and was replaced by Yudhvir Singh midway through the KKR innings.
"We will bat first. That (the pitch) plus a couple of games that have been played here. It is hard to complete forget how important this game is for both the sides, but we have played enough cricket," said Rahul.
"We will focus one thing at a time, first bat well and put the runs on the board. Playing at home becomes a difference, but we play so much cricket that we know how the conditions will be. Quinton comes in, Mohsin misses out and there are a few other changes," he added.
Allrounder Krishnappa Gowtham has replaced Mohsin in the LSG playing XI for the ongoing game. It will be Gowtham's first game of the season. Missing Mohsin will be a big blow for LSG. The left-arm pacer has picked up nine wickets so far and gave LSG good starts in the powerplay on a number of occasions this season.
