Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) skipper Pat Cummins is having a decent time as a leader in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. The fast bowler's team is amongst the favourites to qualify for the playoffs as they have been playing a different brand of cricket.

Sunrisers Hyderabad had a great chance to make their case strong for the playoffs but they let it go. The Pat Cummins-led suffered a disappointing loss against Mumbai Indians in the 55th game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) at the Wankhede Stadium.

Pat Cummins had a great game individually as he oozed his class with the bat and ball. The SRH skipper scored crucial unbeaten 35 runs for the team and then with the ball, he was exceptional. He removed Rohit Sharma and also bowled one maiden over as well.

However, his efforts went in vain as Sunrisers Hyderabad failed to defend the target. They couldn't defend 173 runs after reducing Mumbai Indians to 31/3 and lost the game by 7 wickets with Suryakumar Yadav slamming an unbeaten century to take his team home.

After the game, Pat Cummins was seen having a conversation with Mumbai Indians skipper Pat Cummins and Suryakumar Yadav. In a video that has gone viral on the internet, the SRH skipper can be seen explaining about his half-cut finger to Hardik and Suryakumar, who seemed to be shocked.

Here's the video:

Pat Cummins notably has a problem in the middle finger of his bowling hand (right). At the age of four, his sister accidentally slammed the door on his finger, and the upper part of it got cut. Since then he has been having a problem with his finger.

"I lost about a centimetre off the top of my finger. I still get my sister in tears... (because) she slammed the door on it," Pat Cummins had told Cricket Australia in one of the old conversations

We’ll wait and see what’s ahead of us - Pat Cummins after SRH's defeat against MI

Pat Cummins opened up about the loss Sunrisers Hyderabad faced in the game against Mumbai Indians. He admitted that they didn't post a good total on the board. He also lauded Suryakumar Yadav for his innings and said that they will be playing games at home now and are hopeful of doing well. He added:

"Probably a couple short, at the Wankhede you want as many as you can get. You always feel like you’re in, the wicket had a little bit in it so we were definitely in the game. I think Sanvir helped us get to that 170 instead of 150, ideally, we’d have a bowler.

"It’s T20 cricket, and it doesn't always work out. SKY played really well. We like playing at home, we’ll wait and see what’s ahead of us. Hopefully a few more fireworks," he concluded.

Sunrisiers Hyderabad are currently placed 5th on the points table. They will be next seen in action when they will take on Lucknow Super Giants in their next match on Wednesday (8th May).
