Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill was seen playing a fun game of Rock, Paper, and Scissors with Sunrisers Hyderabad captain Pat Cummins

Shubman Gill and Pat Cummins played the game of Rock, Paper, and Scissors after last night's game between GT and SRH got abandoned due to rain. The match was called off without a ball being bowled at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. This was the second time in a row that Gujarat's match was abandoned due to extreme weather conditions.

Shubman Gill's side had met the same fate during their 13th league game against Kolkata Knight Riders at the Narendra Modi stadium. As a result of it, Gujarat Titans could bag only 2 points combined from the 4 points they could have accumulated from those games. And after last night's outcome, Gujarat were denied a top 4 finish while Hyderabad successfully qualified for the next round.

Gujarat Titans finish outside of the top 4 for the first time since their addition to the IPL

IPL 2024 was a season of firsts and Gujarat Titans joined the trend as well. We saw so many 200+ totals being scored in Premier League history for the first time. We saw Punjab Kings become the first team to chase down a 250+ total. This is the first time so many sixes have been scored and this is the first time Gujarat finished outside of the top 4.

Ever since their introduction in the IPL circuit (although it's been just 3 seasons) Gujarat were a side known for their lethality and aim to finish in the top half. In 2022 they became champions and last season they had become runners-up but this season, they won't even get to feature in the play-offs.

In the last two seasons, Gujarat had a captain like Hardik Pandya, who is also a dynamic all-rounder even if this season his performance wasn't up to the mark. The Titans certainly missed the services of Pandya and fell down to a low they didn't expect to experience under the captaincy of Shubman Gill.

Gujarat just weren't clinical enough and there were quite too many holes in their team which Ashish Nehra will have to fill up next year. With IPL 2025 set to take place before a mega auction, GT can try and build their squad once again by retaining the core players. And they will also have to hope that Shubman Gill turns up for the season differently.

Shubman Gill's T20 World Cup spot hindered due to IPL form

Shubman Gill's lean run of form in IPL 2024 was one of the biggest reasons why he was not included in India's main 15-man squad for the T20 World Cup. Despite being at his worst season since 2018, Gill managed to have a 400+ scoring season.

The 24-year-old amassed 426 runs from 12 games he batted at a strike rate and average of 147 and 38.73 and his tally included a century and two fifties.
