Shashank Singh's campaign in the ongoing IPL 2024 ended in an unfortunate manner as he was run out for just 2 in the ongoing game between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Punjab Kings at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.

The right-handed batsman had the perfect platform to play another fine finishing knock for PBKS. He walked out to bat in the 15th over when PBKS were comfortably placed at 151 for 2 with a well-set Rilee Rossouw batting at the other end.

Shashank Singh, however, lasted just four balls as he was run out in the 16th over. On the final ball of the over bowled by Nitish Reddy, the 32-year-old shuffled across and nudged the ball towards the mid-wicket region. With no fielding inside the circle, the batters were off for a quick single while Nitish Reddy himself ran to stop the ball.

Rossouw immediately turned back for the second run but Shashank Singh looked a bit hesitant. However, with Rossouw showing no hesitation and almost at the halfway mark of the pitch, Shashank Singh decided to sacrifice his wicket. He set off for the run but before he could get back inside the crease, Heinrich Klaasen received the throw and took the bails off.

While Shashank Singh could not make an impact in the ongoing game, he has managed to impress many with his performance in the ongoing IPL 2024. He is one of the very few positives in an otherwise yet another poor season for PBKS. He has finished the season as PBKS' highest run-scorer. The middle-order batsman has scored 354 runs with the help of two fifties.

Talking about the game, PBKS were on 194 for 5 in the 19th over at the time of writing this report. Captain Jitesh Sharma and Shivam Singh were batting in the middle for PBKS.
