Dhruv Jurel, on Friday (May 24), copped a nasty blow on his throat while batting in the recently concluded second qualifier between Rajasthan Royals and Sunrisers Hyderabad at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
The incident took place in the 18th over of the Rajasthan Royals innings when the right-handed batsman was facing T Natarajan. The wicketkeeper-batsman suffered the injury on the very first ball of the over while trying to play a pull shot.
The left-arm pacer bowled a slower short delivery and Dhruv Jurel was a bit early into his pull shot. He failed to make any contact with the ball and it went on to hit him right on his throat. He fell down immediately as the players rushed to check on him. Fortunately, the injury did not look serious as Dhruv Jurel stood up quickly and continued to bat.

Talking about the game, SRH thrashed Rajasthan Royals by 36 runs to book a mouth-watering clash with Kolkata Knight Riders in the final, scheduled to be played on Sunday (May 26) at the same venue. Dhruv Jurel scored a fighting fifty but it was not enough for the Royals to cross the finishing line.
Set a target of 176 runs, the Royals kept losing wickets at regular intervals. As a result, their innings did not really get the required impetus and in the end, they finished their innings on 139 for 7. Jurel scored an unbeaten 56 runs from 35 balls while Yashasvi Jaiswal also played a handy knock of 45 runs.
Barring Jaiswal and Jurel, no other Royals batter could score more than 10 runs in the game. For SRH, spinners Shahbaz Ahmed and Abhishek Sharma made the difference. Shahbaz picked up 3 wickets for 23 runs while Sharma claimed two for 24.
Earlier in the game, SRH scored a challenging total of 175 for 9 in the allotted 20 overs. Wicketkeeper-batsman Heinrich Klaasen starred with the bat for SRH, scoring 50 off 34 balls.
