Ahead of the Asia Cup 2025, Sri Lanka has announced their squad for the One-day series against Zimbabwe. The Lankan side, led by skipper Charith Asalanka, will depart tomorrow for the Zimbabwean tour.
The Lankan side has been the busiest since they missed their chance to play in the ICC T20 World Cup in 2024. They have been looking to better their rankings in the T20 format, while they have also been a firm opposition. However, their recent series loss against Bangladesh has put them on the back foot.
Lankan cricket had also approached the BCCI with a proposal for a white-ball series after they postponed their tour to Bangladesh. However, the BCCI denied such an arrangement.

Former Pakistan Cricketer names 'Sri Lanka' as India's biggest opponent in the Asia Cup
Former Pakistan cricketer Basit Ali has recently spoken about the snubbing of senior players from the Indian squad. The player said India has shockingly dismissed the likes of Shreyas Iyer from the Asia Cup squad, while such players would have been under Category A of the PCB contracts had they been playing in Pakistan.
He has claimed that, considering India's brilliance, there is only one side that can be elevated to the level of being a firm opponent to the Men in Blue, and he has named Sri Lanka as the only side with the ability. They are the defending champions of the Asia Cup T20s, while they were the finalists of the ODI events back in 2023.
