Sri Lanka Playing 11 vs Bangladesh- 1st T20I, Bangladesh Tour of Sri Lanka 2025:
Openers: Pathum Nisanka, Dinesh Chandimal
Lanka will open the batting with the experienced pair of Pathun Nisanka and Dinesh Chandimal, who returns to the Sri Lankan setup after not being a part of the recently concluded ODI series.
The pair will look to get the team off to a good start in the first game of the three-match series to build on the momentum that Lanka has on its side after an emphatic win in the final ODI.
Nissanka, who was in great form in the Test series, which kicked off the multi-format series between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, got a start in the third ODI but wasn't able to convert it into a big score.
The batter will look to get things right in the first game itself by getting a big score under his belt.
Chandimal, on the other hand, would like to make the most of the opportunity he is expected to get as an opener in the first game of the series.
The opening batters will have to take the responsibility to lay a platform for the incoming batters to capitalize on.
Middle-order batsmen and all-rounders: Kusal Mendis (wk), Kamindu Mendis, Charith Asalanka (c), Dasun Shanaka, Dunith Wellalage, Wanindu Hasaranga
The opening pair will be followed by an in-form middle order with Kusal Mendis and captain Charith Asalanka being the two barrers that will look to hold the innings together.
The duo formed a crucial partnership in the middle overs during the third ODI, which helped Lanka post an above-par total with Mendis scoring a fighting half-century.
Kusal was well supported by captain Charith Asalanka, who also scored an attacking half-century.
Both Asalanka and Mendis would hope for other batters to give them good support, as Sri Lanka would have felt that they could have scored an extra 10-15 runs but failed to do so after losing wickets in the final ten overs.
The T20I squad also sees the return of former captain Dasun Shanaka, who will play an important role with the bat lower down the order.
Bowlers: Maheesh Theekshana, Eshan Malinga, Matheesha Pathirana
Lanka is expected to once again pack their playing XI with a lot of bowling options. The home side had as many as eight bowling options in the third ODI.
The onus will once again be on the trio of Wanindu Hasaranga, Kamindu Mendis, and Maheesh Theekshan to pick up wickets in all phases of the innings.
The spinners will get support from Charith Asalanka, who has proved to be a handy option with the ball in the last year or so.
Lanka's fast bowling department will be handled by Eshan Malinga and Matheesha Pathirana.
