Openers: Pathun Nisanka, Oshada Farnendo
Sri Lanka will open the innings with a new opening pair of Pathun Nisanka and Oshada Fernando, who will replace former skipper Dimuth Karunaratne at the top of the order.
Karunaratne retired during Lanka's last Test series against Australia in February this year.
The pair will look to get the team off to a good start and lay a platform for the middle-order batters to capitalize on.
If we talk about the recent individual performances of both batters, they have been decent in the handful of games they have played so far in the longest format of the game.
Nisanka especially had a magnificent start to his Test career with a match-winning century against England in the final Test match last year, which was Sri Lanka's fourth victory on English soil.
Oshada Fernando, on the other hand, has featured in 22 games so far for his nation in the longest format of the game.
The batter will be hoping to get a long run with his new opening partner at the top of the order.
Middle-order batsmen and all-rounders: Kusal Mendis, Angelo Mathews, Dinesh Chandimal (wk), Dhananjaya de Silva (c), Kamindu Mendis,
The opening pair will be followed by an experienced middle order, which will have to take the responsibility on their shoulders to put on a strong show with the bat against an inexperienced bowling lineup.
The Lankan middle order comprises a good blend of youth and experience, with names like Dinesh Chandimal, Angelo Mathews, and Kusal Mendis making up the core of the batting.
The lower middle order will be taken care of by Kamindu Mendis, who has made rapid strides in Test cricket and has earned the reputation of being a reliable batter down the order.
Kamindu will hope for valuable support from Prabath Jayasuriya, who has the capability of making useful contributions with the bat as and when needed.

Lanka would pin their hopes on their spinners to give the team the upper hand in the first game of the series against a team that is going through a transition.
The onus will be on Parbath Jayasuriya and Akila Dhanajaya, both of whom can turn the game in Lanka's favor.
