Pakistan will face Sri Lanka in the sixth match of the Pakistan T20I tri-series. This article provides details about Sri Lanka's Playing 11 vs Pakistan for the sixth match of the series.
Sri Lanka Playing XI vs Pakistan- Pakistan T20I Tri Series 2025, Match 6:
Openers: Pathum Nissanka, Kamil Mishara
Former T20 World Cup winners Sri Lanka would look to replicate the same performance that they delivered in the previous match against Zimbabwe when they take on Pakistan to qualify for the final of the tri-nation series.
The visitors would bank on the resources that they have at their disposal to come good in their respective disciplines to give Pakistan a tough time with bat, ball, and in the field
Although Sri Lanka is short on experience compared to their opponent, they showed in the last match what they are capable of doing if they play to their full potential.
The Dasun Shanaka would aim to do something similar when against an in-form Pakistan batting and bowling lineup in what happens to be a do-or-die game for the Lankan Lions.
For starters, Sri Lanka would want their batting to come good as the inconsistency of the batters has been a major issue for the team in the series.
The onus will be on the opening pair of Pathum Nissanka and Kamil Mishara to get the team off to a good start, as it did against Zimbabwe.
Along with putting on a good stand while batting in partnership, the team management would also back the batters to get a big score individually as well.
Nissanka, who fell two runs short of what could have been a memorable century in the previous match, would like to build on it and would want good support from Mishara, who himself would be itching to play a match-winning knock.
Middle-order batsmen and all-rounders: Kusal Mendis (wk), Kusal Perera, Janith Liyanage, Dasun Shanaka (c), Pavan Rathnayake, Wanindu Hasaranga
Along with the openers, the middle-order batters will also be entrusted to dictate terms in the middle phase of the Sri Lankan batting innings.
The likes of experienced batters Kusal Mendis and Kusal Perera will have to take the responsibility and neutralise the threat of Mohammad Nawaz, who has been in magnificent form since making a comeback in the team.
The above-mentioned batters will look to get good support from Janith Liyanage, who can also clear the boundary with ease, and the captain of the team for this particular series, Dasun Shanaka.
As is the case in any format of the game, all eyes will be on the top five batters to score the bulk of the runs for the team while batting first or while chasing, as Nisanka and Mendis did in the return fixture against Zimbabwe.
Bowlers: Dushmantha Chameera, Maheesh Theekshana, Eshan Malinga
As far as the bowling is concerned, it would be elated after a strong performance in the last game and would want to deliver a similar effort against Pakistan
However, the Sri Lankan bowling attack will have its task cut out considering the form of the Pakistani batting lineup.
It will have to be a combined bowling performance with every ball stepping up and making a meaningful contribution if the team wants to restrict Pakistan's batters from scoring freely
The one bowler who will play a major role in accomplishing that plan would be Wanindu Hasaranga, who got back among wickets against Zimbabwe and would aim to pick wickets consistently after the power play to give his team the best chance of winning.
Hasaranga would look for support from fellow spinner Maheesh Theekshana, who will take the new ball, and the fast bowling duo of Dushmantha Chameera and Eshan Malinga.
