Sri Lanka To Play More Than 40 International Matches As SLC Releases Its Future Tours Programme For 2022

Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) released the itinerary for the Future Tours Programme (FTP) of the calendar year 2022. Their season begins with an ODI series against Zimbabwe at home before they set out to tour Australia, India, and Bangladesh.
Soon after, the Aussies will set out for a return tour during their Asian adventure in June-July 2022. Asian rivals Pakistan will arrive next and will likely stay when Lanka hosts the T20I Asia Cup in August-September 2022.

“The heavy international cricketing calendar of the Sri Lankan team for the year 2022 is going to give our fans a lot of excitement and fun. If we can successfully complete the planned cricketing calendar, it will give a tremendous boost to the game in Sri Lanka, an opportunity for our players to display their talents on the world stage, and also valuable exposure for our partners,” CEO of SLC, Ashley de Silva stated.
After the Asia Cup, the men’s team will set out to play in the 2022 ICC T20 World Cup in Australia in October-November. The final event of the year will be another tour of India but the matches for the same haven’t been decided yet and will be done soon enough.

Currently, the team is on the lookout for a permanent coach. They have appointed Rumesh Ratnayake as the interim head coach for the Zimbabwe series. Also, Ruvin Peiris was roped in as a temporary batting coach.
“In the meantime, Ruvin Peiris was appointed as the ‘Batting Coach’ of the National Team for the series against Zimbabwe. Peiris is attached to the High-Performance Center as a ‘Batting Coach.’ His appointment is also an interim arrangement,” SLC statement read.
