Sri Lanka have won the toss against India in the second ODI and elected to bat first at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. Sri Lanka will take on the visitors in the 2nd ODI of the 3-match series on Tuesday. The Men in Blue portrayed scintillating domination in the first game and beat the hosts by 7 wickets.
Having won the toss, the Lankans elected to bat first but with Indian spinner spinnings the web around the Lankan batsmen, they were diminished on 262 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in their 50 overs. As Indians walked in to bat, Prithvi Shaw and Shikhar Dhawan gave a fiery start to the visitors followed by carnage from the two debutants, Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav.
Sri Lanka vs India 2021, 2nd ODI- Toss Report
Prithvi Shaw won the Man of the Match in the last ODI and all eyes will be on him once again if he takes to the crease today. Ishan Kishan smashed a brilliant half-century on his ODI debut and grabbed the spotlight which will hamper Sanju Samson’s chances of coming into the first eleven after being ruled out of the first ODI due to a ligament injury.
Thus, we might not see any changes in India’s lineup for the second ODI. As far as Sri Lanka is concerned, Isuru Udana’s form was a matter of concern and he has been replaced in the second ODI by Kasun Rajitha.
India’s Playing XI: Prithvi Shaw, Shikhar Dhawan (c), Ishan Kishan (wk), Manish Pandey, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, Krunal Pandya, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Deepak Chahar, Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal.
Sri Lanka’s Playing XI: Avishka Fernando, Binod Bhanuka (wk), Bhanuka Rajapaksa, Dhananjaya de Silva, Charith Aslanka, Dasun Shanaka (c), Wanindu Hasaranga, Chamika Karunaratne, Kasun Rajitha, Dushmantha Chameera, Lakshan Sandakan.
Team India Will Look To Wrap Up The Series
The India National Cricket Team will now look to seal the series with a win in the 2nd ODI against the hosts. The senior national team is currently in England, preparing for a five-match Test series against the hosts and thus a second-string squad had to tour Sri Lanka for the limited-overs ODI and T20I series.
However, the second-string side performed no less than the senior team as they chased a target of 263 runs with 13 overs to spare. The reunion of Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav proved fruitful as the spin twins picked 4 out of the 9 wickets in the first ODI. The visitors will like to go all guns blazing in the second ODI and seal the series to try a few combinations in the final game.
