Sri Lanka vs India 2021: Suryakumar Yadav Pleased To See Rahul Chahar's Performance On His ODI Debut

The man of the series, Suryakumar Yadav was quick to notify that he was highly pleased with the performance of debutant Rahul Chahar in the third ODI against Sri Lanka. Rahul Chahar almost pulled the game back towards India with an outstanding spell of bowling and he was too good to beat the bat again and again.

Chahar who has been on the sidelines in the first two ODIs got the perfect opportunity to showcase his leg-spin talent and he took it with both hands. He finished with three wickets for 54 runs in his 10 over spell and has made a strong case for himself to be picked in the T20 World cup squad.

Suryakumar Reckons Rahul Chahar Gained Confidence From His IPL Stint

Suryakumar Yadav noted that Rahul Chahar has been very consistent with his performances for India, as well as for his franchise sid and his confidence has gained from the stint with Mumbai Indians in the last three years or so. He recalled the incident when Chahar bounced back in the game against RCB in Chennai this IPL and added that the team believes in his abilities.

“He’s been doing this for us every now and then, for Mumbai Indians also and he’s got a lot of confidence from there. I still remember the first game of this season in Chennai, things didn’t go his way but the way he bounced back and got the support from the team management was really nice to see.” Suryakumar Yadav told in the post-match interview

Suryakumar Lauds Chahar For His Performance

Suryakumar Yadav mentioned that Rahul Chahar can turn a game around with his match-winning performance and reckoned both, Mumbai Indians and the Indian team have supported him which has helped him a lot. He was pleased with the way Chahar bowled and notified about the dew factor actually not helping the spinners.

“When he came back, he bounced back with a Man of the Match performance. That’s how it is. When he plays for the franchise, he gets a lot of support and the same culture was here as well. Playing his first ODI, he got a lot of support from the team management and all the players.”

I was really happy to see him bowl so well. There was a little bit of dew and the wicket was not that helpful for the bowlers but he extracted some spin really well” he added

Rahul Chahar will be given a go in the T20 series as well, and it is very important for him to continue his good performance.
