Inoka Ranaweera Has Been Recalled To The T20 World Cup Squad

Left-arm orthodox spinner Inoka Ranaweera has been recalled to the Sri Lanka squad for the World Cup. The 38-year-old last played during the T20 World Cup Qualifier in April-May. Ranaweera has taken 91 T20I wickets from 82 matches at an impressive average of 18.03 and an economy rate of 5.86.

Ranaweera's inclusion in the squad has resulted in the exclusion of 21-year-old seamer Kawya Kavindi, who has played only ten matches in her career. Sri Lanka has just three primary pace-bowling options for the tournament, comprising Udeshika Prabodhani, Achini Kulasuriya, and Ama Kanchana.

Apart from Inoka Ranaweera, Sri Lanka has spin bowling options Inoshi Priyadharshani, Sugandika Kumari, and Kavisha Dilhari, along with captain Chamari Athapaththu's off-spin.

The batting lineup features Athapaththu, Harshitha Samarawickrama, and 18-year-old Vishmi Gunaratne. Their recent victory in the Asia Cup will boost their confidence as they aim for a spot in the T20 World Cup semifinals.
