In the first match of the double header between Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Ekana Stadium, Lucknow. There was a funny incident that turned out to be serious during the game. The incident occurred when commentator Harsha Bhogle and Gujarat Titans Director of Cricket Vikram Solanki had an exchange during the match.
Vikram Solanki surprised experienced pundit Harsha Bhogle with a sharp yet witty reaction during a mid-innings interview in the IPL encounter. The exchange drew immediate attention on air. Bhogle began with a light-hearted comment, asking Solanki about his alleged 50th birthday and admiring his young appearance. However, Solanki quickly diverted the topic back to the game.
How about we stick to the cricket- Vikram Solanki
"Someone told me you celebrated your 50th birthday the other day. That's not true, is it? You're looking trim and young," Bhogle remarked.
"I’ll tell you what, Harsha, you’re having a couple of opportunities to raise a few points on my behalf. How about we stick to the cricket and talk about the guys who are out there?” Vikram Solanki said. Bhogle responded in good spirit, saying, “We will indeed. Thanks for joining us, Vikram.”

Vikram Solanki, the former England cricketer, joined the GT as DOC since their inception in 2022. Before joining the Gujarat Titans, he was the head coach of Surrey CCC and had experience as a player for England and Worcestershire. The former wicket-keeper batter has worked well with head coach Ashish Nehra and has won the IPL back in the first season, and also finished as a finalist in 2023.
GT won with ease
Coming to the match, GT won the match by 7 wickets while chasing a target of 162. Putting into bat first, LSG were never in the game as they kept on losing wickets at regular intervals and lost the momentum as Aiden Markram scored 30, which was the highest score.
GT were through in the match courtesy of half-centuries from their captain, Shubman Gill, and Jos Buttler, who scored 56 and 60 respectively. They won the game comfortably with an over and two balls to spare. It is the second back-to-back win for the Titans. Prasidh Krishna was the man of the match for his excellent bowling spell of 4/28 in four overs.
The way we bowled in the powerplay was very impressive- Shubman Gill
After the game, skipper Gill praised his bowlers, especially mentioning Prasidh and Rashid Khan. GT did not have the best of starts, losing the first two, but now they have won two, and they have jumped into the 5th position of the table.
Gill said, during the post-match presentation, "The way we bowled in the powerplay was vey impressive and how we kept up the pressure in the middle overs was tremendous. [On Rashid Khan] Makes my life very easy, the way Rashid is bowling at the moment. Getting us back in the game every time another bowler is under pressure."
GT will be facing the bottom-place Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at their home ground, at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad, on April 17. The match is scheduled to start at 7:30 PM IST.
