Stuart Broad, one of England’s greatest fast bowlers, has hit back at the Australian women’s cricket team captain and wife of Australian speedster Mitchell Starc, Alyssa Healy, for her latest remark on his involvement in the upcoming Ashes 2025-26 in Australia.

In her recent podcast, Alyssa Healy mentioned how Stuart Broad is enjoying his new innings, and it would be great to see the English pacer in the commentary box instead of on the field with the ball in the upcoming Ashes 2025-26. She also praised Broad’s broadcasting skills.

And Healy felt the Australian fans would surely start loving Broad while praising how one of the fiery pacers was enjoying signing autographs and clicking pictures with the fans during The Hundred and the England-India Test series.

Alyssa Healy said on her Willow Talk podcast, “I think the Aussies will end up falling in love with him, sadly.”

Stuart Broad fires back at Alyssa Healy’s ‘Sadly’ remark with cheeky dig

Well, the Australian skipper’s remark “sadly” didn’t sit well with Broad. England wicketkeeper-batter Jos Buttler recently asked his former teammate about the recent statement made by Mitchell Starc’s wife, and Broad made the most of his latest skills to mock Healy.

Broad, with his trademark wit, fired back in a playful tone as the Englishman pointed out how the statement could have been left without the “sadly.” Taking a sly dig back at Healy, Broad pointed out how unnecessary the word was as he and Jos Buttler burst out laughing.

Stuart Broad said on the ‘For The Love of Cricket’ podcast, while chuckling, “She ruined it a bit with the ‘sadly,’ didn't she? Why does she need that ‘sadly’? Just leave it at him. Just him. Done. ‘Not sadly’.”

Stuart Broad becomes cricket’s new voice

Notably, Stuart Broad has already begun making waves in his new avatar as a cricket commentator and broadcaster. After retiring from the game, the former England pacer has wasted no time in becoming one of the most talked-about new voices in the game of cricket.

After his stints during the India-England Test series and The Hundred 2025, Broad has already secured a big role in the upcoming Ashes 2025-26 in Australia, where he will be part of the commentary teams of the Seven Network as well as the SEN Test Cricket.

Broad, who is expected to add a fresh edge to the coverage of the biggest rivalry in Test cricket, has been keenly working on improving his broadcasting skills.

Even the Englishman admitted that he is taking inspiration from well-known commentators like Ravi Shastri and Ricky Ponting, who have set the bar high in the commentary box with their experience, analysis, and storytelling.

Additionally, Broad has also entered the digital space, joining the long list of cricketers. He and Jos Buttler have co-launched a cricket podcast named ‘For The Love of Cricket,’ sharing inside stories from the cricket world with the fans.
