Former England pacer Stuart Broad has taken a sly dig at Virat Kohli as well as ICC over an Instagram post from the governing body of the game for the India batsman ahead of the T20 World Cup final.

India and South Africa will be taking on each other in the final of the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2024 on Saturday (June 29). The highly-awaited game is scheduled to be played at the Kensington Oval in Barbados. South Africa beat Afghanistan in the first semifinal while India beat reigning champions England in the second semifinal to book a place in the final.

And ahead of the title decider, the ICC decided to pay tribute to Virat Kohli who is undoubtedly one of the most decorated batsmen in the history of the T20 World Cup. While the former India skipper has never won the T20 World Cup, he has a stellar record in the tournament.

He holds the record for scoring the most runs in the T20 World Cup. Virat Kohli has also scored the most half-centuries in the competition. The right-handed batsman has been playing in the T20 World Cup since 2012. So far, he has scored 1216 runs in 34 games at a stellar average of 57.90.

He has also hit a record 14 half-centuries in the competition. The India star is also the only batsman to finish the T20 World Cup as the highest run-scorer twice. He was the highest run-scorer of the 2014 and 2022 T20 World Cups. Having done extremely well with the bat so far in the tournament, Virat Kohli will be hoping that he finally gets to win the trophy this year.

Stuart Broad takes a dig at ICC over tribute to Virat Kohli:

Ahead of the game, the ICC paid tribute to Virat Kohli by posting a picture in which he was sitting on a throne while wearing the current India jersey. The photo also contained Kohli's photos from the previous editions of the T20 World Cup.

"The last jewel remains missing from the crown of the king 👑Virat Kohli is one step away from #T20WorldCup glory," ICC captioned the picture.

And Stuart Broad could not stop himself from having some fun at the expense of ICC and Kohli. The England legend decided to take a dig at them by commenting: "IPL?"

Just like the T20 World Cup, Virat Kohli has not won the IPL either although he is the all-time highest run-scorer of the tournament.
