Former India and Karnataka pacer Dodda Ganesh has hit out at former Chennai Super Kings legend Ambati Rayudu for trying to take credit for Royal Challengers Bengaluru's success in IPL 2026.
Defending champions RCB are currently on top of the points table in IPL 2026 and have practically qualified for the playoffs. Just 1 win in their remaining 2 matches will arguably get the job done.
On Wednesday, RCB beat the Kolkata Knight Riders in their last home game of the season, but it was in Raipur. RCB also have the best net run rate in the league right now.
Virat Kohli leads RCB to eighth win of the season
In Raipur on Thursday, RCB comfortably beat KKR by 6 wickets. Finn Allen got off to a flier while batting first, but Bhuvneshwar Kumar kept him down to a cameo. Ajinkya Rahane was once again a blur. Cameron Green got a start, but could not convert it into a bigger score.
It was then up to Angkrish Raghivanshi's 71 and Rinku Singh's unbeaten 49 to give KKR a formidable total. RCB, though, eased past 193 like it was nothing. Jacob Bethell was dismissed early once again, but both Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal survived dropped chances to put up a second-wicket stand of 92.
Kohli then completed his century later in the chase, even as Kartik Tyagi took a three-wicket haul that couldn't stop RCB from ending KKR's four-match winning streak.
We deserve some credit for their success- Ambati Rayudu
After the game, Ambati Rayudu spoke to ESPNCricinfo and shared his thoughts about RCB's top-of-the-table success.
"We [CSK fans] were the ones who wanted RCB to do well. We were the ones who always spoke the truth out. A lot of people could not, you know, when they were not doing well. And because of guys like us, they actually realised that they had to build a team like this. And eventually they did, and they're winning. So, you know, they should thank us," he said.
When asked if he wanted the credit for RCB's success, Ambati Rayudu responded in the affirmative.
"Yes, of course, we all should. No, see, our criticism was logic-based. It was never without logic. We said they never picked good, quality Indian middle-order batsmen. They didn't have good finishers, and they didn't have experienced bowling. This was what we were always saying. And eventually they did, and they are reaping the rewards. So, you guys [RCB should thank us," he added.

RCB's next match in IPL 2026
RCB only have two matches left in the league stage in IPL 2026. Both of them will be away games.
First, they will face the Punjab Kings in Dharamsala on May 17 in a day game. Then, they will face Sunrisers Hyderabad - the same team they started their season against - in Hyderabad on May 22.
