Rohit Sharma-led Team India have been the best side in the ongoing ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023. The Men in Blue have appeared unstoppable in the competition, blowing away any teams that have crossed their path.
In their first game, they recovered from 2 for 3 to chase down 200 runs and beat five-time world champions Australia by 6 wickets. It was followed by an eight wicket-win over Afghanistan before the hosts beat Pakistan and Bangladesh by the same margin of seven wickets.
In their fifth game, India beat high-flying New Zealand by 4 wickets. And in their last outing, they got the better of reigning world champions England. India were reeling at 40 for 3 after being asked to bat first and they went on to win the game by 100 runs.
Rohit Sharma not getting carried away:
Rohit Sharma has received praise from all around for the way he has led the team in the competition so far. Not very long ago, he faced severe criticism for his captaincy but things have changed after the triumph in the Asia Cup and the dominant run in the World Cup.
He has been praised not only for his captaincy but also his batting. Rohit Sharma has led the team from the very front and is currently India’s highest run-scorer in the competition. And while Rohit Sharma is being praise from all around, he is not getting carried away. The India captain is well aware that it takes just one defeat for the opinions to change and he talked about it during the pre-match press-conference on Wednesday (November 1).
“It’s not my thought process (that India is enjoying a dream run), it’s the team’s thought process that the guys comply with. When things look good, everything looks good, everything works well. I know how this whole thing works.
“I’m quite aware of one game here and there, I know suddenly I’ll be a bad captain. I know how it works. I try and do what is necessary from the team’s perspective and be sure of that,” the India captain said ahead of the World Cup match against Sri Lanka,” Rohit Sharma said ahead of the game against Sri Lanka.
