Sunil Gavaskar Set To Be Given The Hospitality Box In Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium On October 29
Former Indian batting great Sunil Gavaskar will be handed the hospitality box at the legendary Wankhede stadium by the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) on October 29. The decision was announced by a member of the MCA on Saturday.
Recently, the MCA held its apex council meeting where certain matters were discussed. They’ve also decided to inaugurate the ‘Dilip Vengsarkar North Stand’ on the same day. Gavaskar is also the nephew of Madhav Mantri.
“MCA to keep the function of Late Shri Madhav Mantri centenary year on October 29. On the same day, MCA will handover (the) hospitality box to Sunil Gavaskar.”
“And Dilip Vengsarkar North Stand’ will be inaugurated in presence of Chief Guest Shri Sharad Pawar and Guest of Honour G R Viswanath. The member also said that both Gavaskar and Vengsarkar will be honored by MCA colors,” a member of the MCA council was quoted as saying to PTI.

The long meeting held by MCA’s apex council on Saturday also concluded that a memorial league tournament from Divisions C to G will be held to commemorate former Mumbai captain Madhav Mantri’s centenary year. He passed away in May 2014 at the age of 94.
Higher division teams will fight in the Talim Shield one-day tournaments while the lower divisions will play in the Mantri memorial tournament. Talim Shield will commence soon after it was earlier delayed due to the Covid pandemic.
