Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) heads into the IPL 2025 mega auction with ₹45 crore aiming to go for their 2nd title.
The 2016 champions have retained Heinrich Klaasen for a record ₹23 crore along with Travis Head, Pat Cummins, Abhishek Sharma, and Nitish Kumar Reddy. The retention of Klaasen, who smashed runs at a strike rate dominating in IPL 2024 shows SRH's commitment to aggressive batting.
Team sources indicate SRH will target former captain Aiden Markram to strengthen their number three position. The South African led SRH's sister franchise Sunrisers Eastern Cape to back-to-back SA20 titles.
Death bowling emerged as SRH's weakest link in IPL 2024 and conceded at 12.8 runs per over in the final four overs. To address this, they're eyeing Marco Jansen (₹9-11 crore) and local favorite T. Natarajan (₹6-8 crore), who took 19 wickets for them last season.
With 20 slots to fill, including five overseas positions, SRH might splash big on power-hitter Tim David (₹8-9 crore) or former opener Jonny Bairstow (₹12-14 crore). The team holds one Right-to-Match card, usable only for uncapped players.
The franchise's previous mega auction strategy in 2022 saw them spend heavily on Kane Williamson (₹14 crore), who was later released. This time, with the big auction purse, SRH's decisions could reshape their fortunes for the next three years.
