Super 8 schedule for ICC T20 World Cup 2024 finalised!! Team India to play these sides

The Super 8s are locked in for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 in the USA and West Indies as the Group stages of the tournament come to an end tomorrow. 

We are on for some exciting and mouthwatering clashes in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 Super 8s which are going to start from June 19th.

The Group stages of the first-ever 20-team T20 WC were nothing short of a roller-coaster ride as witnessed some dominating performances as well as some upsets. 

The biggest upset was perhaps Pakistan and New Zealand exiting the tournament from the Group stages itself after suffering 2 losses back-to-back.

The runners-up of the previous two editions had strong squads at their disposal but they weren't able to capitalize on it. Teams like Afghanistan, Nepal, USA, and Scotland came out as surprise packages. 

At the moment, only two Group stage matches are remaining with New Zealand taking on Papua New Guinea later today. West Indies and Afghanistan are set to lock horns in the last match of the 1st round tomorrow.

After that, the Super 8s will start with a clash between co-hosts USA and inaugural hosts South Africa. All the matches will now take place in the Caribbean. 

Some big-match ups of the Super 8 

We are going to be witnessing some big match-ups in the Super 8 stage of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. Two major blockbusters will take place on 20th June when two 2-time champions West Indies and England face off against each other.

It will be a replay of the 2016 T20 WC final in Kolkata wherein Dareen Sammy's side lifted the coveted trophy for the second time.

The 2nd blockbuster on that very day will take place between India and the resurgent Afghanistan team under Rashid Khan's leadership. The Indians are heading into the Super 8s with a 100% win record whereas their opponents displayed a very good form in the Group stages. 

Another factor that makes this clash highly anticipated is that India have never lost to Afghanistan in ICC tournaments.

The next big match will take place on Friday, June 21st as reigning champions England will face South Africa. The very next day co-hosts West Indies and USA will lock horns against each other at the Kensington Oval in Barbados.

On June 23rd, Afghanistan will aim to avenge their tragic loss from the 50-over World Cup against Australia wherein Glenn Maxwell had taken his team to the last 4 stages with a double hundred.

The biggest match of the Super 8s will take place on Monday, June 24th as India will face Australia in an ICC tournament for the first time since the ODI WC final last year. 

In the last Super 8 match of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, Asian giant killers Afghanistan and Bangladesh will be against each other.
