Suryakumar Yadav's childhood coach Ashok Aswalkar talked about the personal turmoil that he went through. He revealed that he was sacked from his job and only told the India T20I skipper about it who then helped him.

Suryakumar Yadav has been going through the purple patch in his career. The right-hander since the last few years has been the top batter for the team in the shortest format of the game. This has rewarded him big time as he then recently was appointed as the T20I captain of the Indian team following the retirement of Rohit Sharma.

While Suryakumar Yadav is enjoying the highest point of his career, his childhood coach Ashok Aswalkar was fired from his job. After serving for 24 years at the Chembur's Anushakti Nagar, he was sacked from his job, where he was earning ₹41,000 for his dual role of curator and coach.

While talking about his job through the years, Suryakumar Yadav's childhood coach Ashok Aswalkar revealed that he didn't tell his family that he was fired. He claimed that he explained the story to the India T20I captain, who then didn't entertain people at fault.

Ashok Aswalkar also talked about why he was fired from his job. He revealed that when he returned from his nephew's marriage, he was told to go back home. While narrating the entire incident to Mid-day, he explained:

"I joined the BARC [Bhabha Atomic Research Centre] ground in 1989-90 and was assisting Jagannath Phanse as a groundsman and coach. I started at a monthly salary of R3,000 and when they [ASMC] discontinued my services in December 2023, I was getting R26,000 per month for the groundsman job and R15,000 for coaching from a coaching agency.I didn't even tell my family members that I had lost my job. I just messaged Surya to say that I lost my job and told him who was responsible for this damage. Surya in response stopped entertaining that particular person.

"I went to attend my nephew’s wedding in Malvan with prior intimation. They [ASMC] asked me to meet them on my return on December 31. I did so, but no one spoke to me during my three-hour visit. I was then told via a message to return home and I would be called again. This was humiliating. When I was told to visit the place a week later, no one met me again."

I spoke with Surya about starting a cricket academy and he gave me a positive reply - Ashok Aswalkar

Ashok Aswalkar stated that after being sent home, he was called by the management of his office who asked him questions and told him that he would be contacted later but since then hasn't been reached out.

Ashok Aswalkar further revealed that after being fired, he asked Suryakumar Yadav if he wanted to open a cricket academy and the batter came up with a positive reply. He explained:

"After one month I got a message at my home that a few [ASMC] members wanted to meet me on the ground. I met and spoke with Mr [Ramakant] Sahu and two other committee members there. They asked me questions and listened carefully to what I said. The committee members said they would get in touch with me soon, but to date, no one has communicated with me. The last salary I drew was ₹26,911 in December 2023."

"I am coaching youngsters in an indoor turf facility at Chembur now. I spoke with Surya about starting a cricket academy and he gave me a positive reply. We both want to provide coaching to needy youngsters. Money was never a priority for us, and it will not be in the future," he concluded.
