Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra lauded Suryakumar Yadav for his exceptional performance during the first T20I against Australia. Aakash Chopra stated that Suryakumar Yadav has the ability to confidently execute his plans based on the match conditions.
Suryakumar Yadav showcased his remarkable form while chasing down a 209-run target during the first T20I of the five-match series against Australia. He smashed 80 runs off 42 balls to help India register a two-wicket win in Visakhapatnam on Thursday, November 23.
Suryakumar Yadav Is Unstoppable – Aakash Chopra
Speaking on JioCinema’s daily sports show ‘#AAKASHVANI,’ Aakash Chopra was impressed with Suryakumar Yadav’s approach in T20s. Chopra emphasized Yadav’s effectiveness in T20s, which is evident in the cautious field placements adopted by the opposition.
“In T20s, Suryakumar Yadav looks like a completely different player. His approach is completely different. He is unstoppable. Why does that happen? It happens because his DNA has been set that way now,” Chopra told Jio Cinema.
“He feels he understands the demands of this format very well and he can execute his plans according to prevailing conditions. Even the opposition is wary of his exploits, and it reflects in the field placements they introduce.”
Captain Suryakumar Yadav added a crucial 112-run partnership with Ishan Kishan and rescued the national team from a challenging position of 22/2. The left-handed batter scored 58 runs off 39 deliveries, with the help of five maximums and two boundaries.
He’s Left Alone To Focus On T20 Cricket – Aakash Chopra
Aakash Chopra said that players don’t necessarily have to participate in all three formats of the game, suggesting that Suryakumar Yadav can thrive as a T20 specialist. Chopra emphasized the importance of allowing Yadav to focus on T20 cricket for the next six months.
“In my view, it’s not necessary that players have to be a part of teams in all three formats of the game. Surya can be a T20 cricketer. It’s okay that he’s left alone to focus on T20 cricket for the next six months.”
“I hope we don’t find ourselves in a position where we lose a T20 rockstar just because we want him to be a part of the team in all three formats,” Chopra further stated.
