The India National Cricket Team have been flying high in T20 International (T20I) cricket, but captain Suryakumar Yadav has openly said that he is not entirely satisfied with where things are at the moment.
Suryakumar Yadav bluntly stated that "there's never anything like all bases covered" and a team needs to continuously work hard to achieve perfection in T20Is.
India beat Australia 2-1 in the T20I series
The Men In Blue have played a remarkable brand of cricket in T20Is and have achieved tremendous success in the last few years.
They won the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024 under the leadership of Rohit Sharma without losing any matches, and since then, India have been an absolutely dominant force in world cricket.
India have now won each of the seven T20I series they have been part of since June 2024 and have dropped just four matches while winning 26. They won the series against Zimbabwe, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, South Africa, England, and Australia.
Also, India remained unbeaten in the Asia Cup 2025 and beat arch-rivals Pakistan on three consecutive occasions to become the Asia Cup champions yet again.
Talking about the Australia series, India made a strong comeback after losing the second match by 4 wickets in Melbourne and beat Australia in Hobart by 5 wickets and in Carrara by 48 runs. Notably, the first T20I in Canberra and the fifth match in Brisbane were washed out; as a result, India clinched the series 2-1.
I'm very lucky to have all these boys with different-different skills - Suryakumar Yadav
Speaking at the post-match press conference, Suryakumar Yadav was asked if India had all bases covered. Replying to this, Suryakumar said that he is very lucky to have the current crop of players in the squad who bring different skills and are fully energetic. He said:
"I'm very lucky to have all these boys with different-different skills. They bring very different-different things to the table. When we chat around about the bowling, batting, and fielding… You must have seen a lot of energy on the ground. People enjoy when they go together on the ground.
"But yeah, from a batting point of view, definitely what we've been doing in the last six to eight months, I think we're sticking to that, not changing anything. These guys are doing it really well. The way they bat at the top of the order, it puts a smile on everyone's face when they're batting together."
There's never anything like all bases covered - Suryakumar Yadav
However, Suryakumar Yadav further made it clear that he would never say all the bases are covered because there is always some scope for improvement. He stated:
"And also from a bowling point of view as well, people are taking responsibility. Having an experienced bowler like [Jasprit] Bumrah around in the team and everyone chatting with him, learning a lot of skills, tricks and trade of the game, I think that's a good thing. So there's good friendship building up in that as well.
"So we are trying to get there. There's never anything like all bases covered. We always learn from this game, every game we play. Yeah, till now things look good, touch wood, let's continue that."
