India National Cricket Team T20I skipper Suryakumar Yadav is all set to miss the first round of the Duleep Trophy 2024. As per the reports in TOI, it is learned that the batter will be missing the first round of the tournament due to the hand injury he sustained in the Buchi Babu tournament.

Suryakumar Yadav faced a hand injury during the game against Tamil Nadu Cricket Association XI. Batter injured himself while attempting to take the catch at the leg slip and looked in immense pain after the blow. He was taken off the field and then didn't come to the field again.

Suryakumar Yadav also didn't come to bat because of the injury. The latest reports claimed that the batter has moved to the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru for rehabilitation.

Suryakumar Yadav didn't have a great outing with the bat in the Buchi Babu tournament game against the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association XI. He scored 30 runs in the first innings and missed the opportunity to bat in the second innings because of injury.

Suryakumar recently expressed his desire to make his comeback in the Test team for India. However, the injury in the Buchi Babu tournament has made things tough for him. The batter played one game for the team in the Test and didn't have a great outing but after that, he was dropped from the team.

With the India National Cricket Team slated to play 10 Tests, the Duleep Trophy 2024 would've been a massive opportunity for him to stage a comeback. However, now he would be keen to make a recovery from the injury soon and again grind hard to keep his hopes alive for the Test comeback.

Suryakumar has been named in the India C squad for the Duleep Trophy 2024. His absence will no doubt leave a massive void in the team with first game of the tournament just around the corner. It will also be a headache for the team management to look for a player who can fill in his shoes and help the team win the game.

India C will be opening their campaign against India D in Ananthpur. On the other hand India A will be taking on India B squaring off in the other opening-round match at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. As per reports, both games will be monitored by the selection committee as they finalize the squad for the upcoming Bangladesh series

Suryakumar was also recently named as the Indian captain for the T20I team. He was appointed as the captain of the team after Rohit Sharma announced his retirement from the shortest format of the game after leading the team to the win in the T20 World Cup 2024. It remains to be seen how long will the batter take to recover.
