Mumbai all-rounder Suryansh Shedge has been sidelined by a quadriceps injury, according to The Times of India journalist Gaurav Gupta. The 23-year-old suffered a minor Grade 1 tear and is expected to complete his return-to-play protocol by September 20 before resuming training.
The injury comes soon after Shedge made his international debut for India during the tours of Ireland, England, and Zimbabwe in mid-2026. He was subsequently left out of the squad for the recent T20I series against Afghanistan as the team management made tactical changes.

Suryansh Shedge is out of action with a quadriceps injury, according to The Times of India journalist Gaurav Gupta. The 23-year-old has suffered a minor Grade 1 tear and is expected to return by September 20.
“Suryansh suffered a minor Grade-1 tear of the quadriceps. It is basically a mild niggle of the quads,” a source told Gaurav Gupta.
The injury is not considered a long-term concern, and Shedge is expected to return to training once he completes his rehabilitation. His fitness will be monitored ahead of Mumbai’s upcoming domestic season.
Suryansh Shedge Rose Through Mumbai Cricket Before IPL Breakthrough
Suryansh Shedge first attracted attention at the age of 13 when he smashed an unbeaten 326 off 137 balls in the Giles Shield inter-school tournament. He later developed into a powerful lower-middle-order batter and useful all-rounder for Mumbai.
Shedge played an important role in Mumbai’s 2024-25 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy-winning campaign, recording a tournament strike rate of 251.92. His ability to finish innings aggressively helped him gain attention on the domestic circuit.
His IPL journey began with the Lucknow Super Giants, where he joined as a replacement player in 2023 but did not make an appearance. Punjab Kings then signed him for the 2025 season.
Under Ricky Ponting in IPL 2026, Shedge made further progress. He scored 158 runs in seven innings at a strike rate of 175.55, strengthening his case for higher-level opportunities.
Suryansh Shedge Made India Debut During 2026 T20I Tours
Suryansh Shedge earned his maiden India call-up in June 2026 as an injury replacement for Nitish Kumar Reddy. He made his T20I debut against Ireland in Belfast on June 28.
The Mumbai all-rounder featured in three T20Is during India’s tours of Ireland, England, and Zimbabwe. He scored eight runs in two innings and bowled seven overs without taking a wicket.
Shedge made 1 off 5 balls and conceded 25 runs in two overs on debut against Ireland. He then scored 7 off 6 balls and bowled three overs for 39 runs against England. Against Zimbabwe, he did not get an opportunity to bat and finished with figures of 0/15 from two overs.
Shedge was among the players left out when India announced their squad for the three-match T20I series against Afghanistan in September. The selection changes brought experienced players such as Jasprit Bumrah, Axar Patel, Varun Chakravarthy, and Sanju Samson back into the setup.
