West Indian opener, Chris Gayle is set to return to the Abu Dhabi T10 League after missing out on the previous season. On Saturday, the home franchise, Abu Dhabi announced the signing of Chris Gayle as their icon player for the fourth edition of the tournament. The left-hander played for the Kerala Knights in the 2018 season.

After playing for a couple of dozen teams in the T20 format, Chris Gayle has amassed over 13,584 runs- which is 3000 runs more than the next best and his West Indian teammate, Kieron Pollard. Gayle also has struck 1001 maximums and 22 hundreds in his 15-year T20 career. The two-time T20 World Cup winner even at the age of 41 is the biggest and the most sought-after attraction in T20 cricket.

Chris Gayle to team up with Luke Wright in Abu Dhabi

Chris Gayle will play alongside T20 specialists like Hayden Walsh, Avishka Fernando, Rohan Mustafa, and Luke Wright at Team Abu Dhabi. Abu Dhabi retained the four players they have for the forthcoming season. They are yet to win the league in three previous editions, and thus the signing of Gayle could help them lift their maiden title.
