Former Pakistan captain, Shoaib Malik is excited to play in the upcoming fourth edition of the Abu Dhabi T10 League. Malik is the icon player and the captain of the defending champions Maratha Arabians.

The Abu Dhabi T10 League 2021 is scheduled to take place from January 28 to February 6 at the Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi.

Shoaib Malik says that the 10-over a side is a perfect format to lure new audience to the game as it is short and of course, full of runs making it exciting and unpredictable. It will also provide freedom to players to showcase their skills.

Since batsman will have an even lesser price on their wickets in T10 compared to T20, they would only be batting the attacking mode – unlike the middle-overs phase in T20 cricket where the game may seem dull and uninteresting at times.

As quoted by ANI, Shoaib Malik said, “It’s always nice to be part of something positive in the game. T10 is a perfectadvert to bring new audiences to cricket as it’s short, exciting and a great way to show the best of cricket, especially the new skills that players are continually bringing. You never know in T10. It’s an unpredictable format, which is why it’s exciting.”

Shoaib Malik will play alongside his long time national teammate, Mohammad Hafeez; both the players currently play only T20 cricket for Pakistan. Other short format specialists like Laurie Evans and Pravin Tambe will also feature in the Arabians’ line-up.

Malik, who won the 2009 T20 World Cup, reckons that there is a good mixture of youth and experience in the Arabians’ squad. Shoaib Malik is coming off a title-winning run in the Lanka Premier League for the Jaffna Stallions; the 38-year-old was the Man of the Match in the final.

“It will be nice to be a teammate with my long-time international colleague Mohammad Hafeez. Plus, there are always new stars to identify as T10 offers fantastic opportunities and exposure to so many players. Hopefully, those new stars will come from Maratha Arabians. We have a mixture of experience and raw talent so hopefully, we can all come together and contribute to the team cause and see if we can enjoy our cricket and win a few matches,” Shoaib Malik added.
