Left-arm pacer Luke Wood, on Saturday (May 27), clean bowled Alex Hales with a stunning yorker during the T20 Blast clash between Lancashire and Nottinghamshire. It would not be wrong to say that the Lancashire bowler bowled one of the best yorkers of all time to dismiss the dangerous opener cheaply.

Lancashire piled up a big total of 208 for 4 after winning the toss and electing to bat first. Their openers Philip Salt and Luke Wells gave them a good start by adding 56 runs for the first wicket. In-form Daryl Mitchell then smashed an unbeaten 85 to help Lancashire post a 200-plus total.

The New Zealand star scored 85 runs in just 41 balls with the help of 4 fours and 6 sixes. Captain Liam Livingstone also played a crucial 31-run knock. For Nottinghamshire, left-arm spinner Samit Patel was the most successful bowler, taking 2 for 41.

Luke Wood cleans up Alex Hales with a stunner:

Chasing a mammoth 209, Nottinghamshire needed a good start with the bat. The onus was on their star opener Alex Hales to deliver at the top of the order and lay the foundation for a successful chase. But even before Hales could settle down, he was sent back to the pavilion by Luke Wood with a peach of a delivery.

On the third ball of the very first over, the left-arm pacer dismissed the England opener for a duck. It was a full and swinging yorker from Luke Wood and Hales had absolutely no answer for it. He did try to bring his bat down at the last minute to save his wicket but it did not work as he was completely beaten by the stunning delivery. The ball went on to uproot the off-stump.

Here is a clip of the stunning delivery from Luke Wood:
