The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) President Sourav Ganguly believes India is one of the top contenders to win the upcoming T20 World Cup 2021.

The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 is all set to commence from October 17 in Oman and UAE. Meanwhile, Virat Kohli-led India National Cricket Team is placed in the Group 2 of the tournament alongside the Pakistan National Cricket Team, Afghanistan National Cricket Team and New Zealand National Cricket Team.

Former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly has opined that India always enters the big competition as one of the genuine contenders. Also, Ganguly has instructed the Indian team to focus on the process rather than the result. Ganguly elaborated:

They (India) will always be contenders in whatever competition they play in and the challenge for them is to be at peace with themselves, focus on the process rather than the results because the most toughest thing and the most wrong thing to do is when you take guard and you think I am here to win the World Cup. “…what is important is to play the next ball which is coming out of the hand and keep doing that till you get to the finals.”

The BCCI president Sourav Ganguly was questioned about T20 World Cup 2021 seeing a lot more low-scoring encounters like Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021, to which Ganguly responded:

“No, no, I don’t think so, Maybe in Sharjah, it will be because of the wickets, but Dubai is an absolute belter, the IPL final was an absolute belter.”

The BCCI president further added that Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium has a great surface to bat and he is expecting T20 World Cup 2021 to be a great event.

Abu Dhabi will be a great surface to bat on and it is going to be a great World Cup,” said the 49-year-old.
