Undoubtedly, the T20 World Cup 2022 is going to entertain the fans to their fullest. We have already witnessed a couple of upsets in the initial stages. One can expect a lot more similar results as we walk into the tournament.

While some top teams will battle out for the title and prestige, others will look to prove themselves on the global platform. It’s tough to predict the outcome as T20 cricket is a game of margins and any team can outplay any side on a particular day.

In this article, we will talk about three sides who are not being considered as favorites but can surprise everyone by pulling off something memorable:

1) Zimbabwe

While the two-time world champion West Indies failed to qualify for the super 12 round, Zimbabwe topped the group. They won two out of their three games to stay ahead of the likes of Ireland, Scotland and West Indies.

They are a formidable unit who can surprise any top side on their day. The red-hot form of the likes of Sikandar Raza and Blessing Muzarabani is a big surplus ahead of the crucial stages.

It would be a big mistake to underestimate the Zimbabwe team who have produced many surprising results in recent years. They are high on confidence and can build on that going forward.

2) Sri Lanka

Although Sri Lanka won the recent Asia Cup, they are not one of the hot favourites to win the Cup in Australia. Cricket pundits feel they still don’t have the required quality to outperform some of the giant sides in the tournament.

But again, no one expected them to win the continental cup in UAE, where India and Pakistan were looking much stronger units on paper. The Lankan side are through to the next round after winning two out of three qualifying games.

They have some incredible individuals who can decide the fate of the match with their piece of brilliance. If they manage to build momentum at an early stage, it will be tough to put a break on their run.

3) Afghanistan

Over the last decade, Afghanistan have emerged as one of the top quality sides in the cricket world. They have produced several world champions in the form of Rashid Khan, Mohmmad Nabi, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, etc.

T20 cricket has shown that any team can outperform any side in the world on their day. Afghans are a strong experienced unit that can execute better than expectations if they get their strategy and mindset right.

Afghanistan have managed to pull off many upsets in recent ICC events and show what they are really capable of. It’s not too long before they start dominating the scenes in the business.
