Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra lashed out at the fake post which claimed that he wants BCCI to drop Rohit Sharma from the squad for the T20 World Cup 2024. He stated that fan armies are only concerned with views and for them views are more important.

India recently named their squad for the T20 World Cup 2024. Rohit Sharma will be captaining the team and it will be a great opportunity for him to take the team to glory and end the heartbreak for the fans after a disappointing ICC World Cup 2023 loss.

Rohit Sharma has looked in decent touch in the ongoing IPL 2024. He started the tournament pretty well and also racked up one century. However, since the T20 World Cup 2024 squad has been named, the batter has failed to set the stage on fire and has been getting out early.

With Rohit Sharma bagging low scores in his last few innings, the post circulated on social media. The post stated that Aakash Chopra had said that India's captain shouldn't have been selected for the T20 World Cup 2024 because he was failing to score runs in power play.

"Aakash Chopra said Rohit Sharma shouldn't have been selected for the T20 World Cup. He's now even failing in powerplay," a post claimed on X.

However, replying to this, Aakash Chopra lashed out at the fan armies, stating that IPL is the best time to spread hate. While touting this as rubbish, he stated:

"IPL is the best time to spread hate, fake news...and all sorts of rubbish. Fan-armies are there to lap it up always. I often wonder if views/engagement is more important than the morals," Aakash Chopra posted on Twitter.

When the T20 World Cup was happening, we missed a lot of T20Is - Rohit Sharma on missing T20Is

Rohit Sharma, who missed all the T20Is after the T20 World Cup 2022, stated that they discussed with coaches that they wanted to focus on the particular formats. He pointed out how they prioritized ODIs during the ICC World Cup 2023. He stated:

"When the T20 World Cup was happening, we missed a lot of T20Is. Test cricket is a format that you don't want to miss and give priority to. That's what we discussed with the players and the coaches too.

"Ajit came later. He doesn't know what was discussed. Whichever format happens, we give priority to that format. As 50 over World Cup was happening, we missed a lot of T20Is," he concluded.

India will be taking on Ireland in their first game of the T20 World Cup 2024. The match will take place on 5th June and they would want to start on high.
