Australia T20 captain Mitchell Marsh opened up about the exclusion of Jake Fraser-McGurk from the squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup in the West Indies and the USA. Mitchell Marsh stated that Australia has all the bases covered and added that Jake Fraser-McGurk will have a bright future in cricket.
Jake Fraser-McGurk garnered attention with his outstanding performances for the Delhi Capitals (DC) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. However, the 22-year-old batter didn't secure a spot in Australia's squad for the World Cup. Steve Smith also missed out on selection for the upcoming tournament.
Fraser-McGurk scored a half-century in his debut match against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). The right-handed batter has scored 259 runs in six matches at an average of 43.17 and a striking strike rate of 233.33. He achieved the feat of scoring a half-century off 15 balls or fewer twice in the tournament.

Mitchell Marsh praised Jake Fraser-McGurk, stating that he’s taken the IPL by storm. The Australian skipper predicted a bright future for him in cricket, describing him as an outstanding talent.
“Jakey is an outstanding talent. I think you know the way he's taking on the IPL, he’s taken it by storm, they’re all loving him, and certainly, the Delhi crew are enjoying his company and enjoying what he brings to the team and there's no doubt that he's going to have a huge future, wherever he plays,” Marsh said on Australian radio station SEN.

The Australian T20I skipper mentioned that they selected David Warner and Travis Head as opening batters due to their consistent performances. Marsh stated that they have all bases covered, hoping the squad will perform well in the tournament.
“But we feel like we've got all bases covered within our team. Heady and David Warner have been fantastic for us, not only for a long period of time but over the last 18 months building towards this (T20) World Cup. We're really comfortable that we've got the right 15, to hopefully take us deep into the (T20) World Cup,” Marsh added.
