T20 World Cup 2024: Shakib Al Hasan set to retire after T20 WC? Bangladesh great provides update on his future

Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan hinted about his career as he talked about the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024. He said that he has been fortunate enough to represent his country and is hoping to play another World Cup in the T20 format.
Shakib Al Hasan has been an incredible servant for Bangladesh in all three formats of the game. He is among the only two cricketers in the world to have played all the editions of the T20 World Cup. The other is India skipper Rohit Sharma.
Shakib Al Hasan has been one of the finest cricketers to have played the game of cricket. The all-rounder has been one of the main reasons why Bangladesh cricket has so much popularity as he has given his sweat and blood to the team.
Shakib Al Hasan recently hinted about his retirement as well. He stated that he will be taking a call on his career after the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The tournament will be played in Pakistan in February.
However, now, Shakib Al Hasan expressed his desire to play more T20 cricket. He talked about sharing the feat of playing most world cups with Rohit Sharma and added that he wants to perform for his team and take them to glory. Speaking in a video posted by BCB, he stated:
"Firstly, when I started I didn't expect that I would play for so long and secondly since the start of the T20 Cricket World Cup till this T20 World Cup, I have participated in all of them along with Rohit Sharma. It is a matter of pride for me and I'm happy that I could represent the country.
"Me and Rohit Sharma are the only two players who played all the T20 World Cups and I hope that I can play another World Cup but before that would like to perform well in the tournament and Bangladesh can do better than the previous T20 tournament.”

Shakib Al Hasan further expressed his desire to see equal competition between bat and ball and also hoped that a lot of Bangladesh fans would come around to support them. He added that he is just focused on contributing to his team. He added:
"The only thing that I feel is that here it should be the same competition between bat and ball and it should not be one-sided and normally that is not the case with World Cups and I feel it would be the same this time round.
"There will be a lot of Bangladeshi fans there (in the World Cup) and I hope they will give us full support and this support will help us and we will be able to give good results. I don't want to see anything besides my name and the only thing that I want is to contribute for Bangladesh team and hope to do well for Bangladesh in this World Cup.”
Shakib Al Hasan is currently the leading wicket-taker in T20 World Cup history with 47 wickets in 36 matches. He would be keen to add to his tally and help his team win.
