Former India captain Sourav Ganguly expressed confidence in Rohit Sharma's abilities despite his poor form in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season. Sourav Ganguly backed Rohit Sharma to perform well in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024 in the West Indies and the USA from June 2 to 29.

Rohit Sharma started the tournament on an impressive note, scoring 297 runs in the first seven matches at an average of 49.50 and a strike rate of 164.09. He scored 52 runs in the last six innings at a strike rate of less than 100. Overall, he has scored 349 runs at an average of 29.08 and a strike rate of 145.42.

The ninth edition of the T20 World Cup might be Rohit's last appearance for the Men in Blue in the shorter format.

Rishabh Pant Makes A Big Difference - Sourav Ganguly

Sourav Ganguly highlighted that Rishabh Pant's absence contributed to their loss against Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Ganguly emphasized that Pant's presence significantly impacts the team's performance.

"Yesterday yes (if DC lost because of Pant's absence), Rishabh makes a big difference to our batting," Ganguly stated.

Pant was suspended for one match after breaching the IPL Code of Conduct for the third time in the ongoing season. The DC skipper was fined Rs 30 lakh and suspended for one match due to his team's slow over-rate during their IPL 2024 match against the Rajasthan Royals (RR).
