T20 World Cup 2024: Suresh Raina destroys Pakistani journalist's troll attempt after Shahid Afridi's appointment as WC ambassador

Former India cricketer Suresh Raina didn't go easy on a Pakistan journalist who took a dig at him over ICC announcing Shahid Afridi as a brand ambassador for the T20 World Cup 2024. He slammed the fan, saying that he has the 2011 World Cup in his kitty and that's enough for him. 

The T20 World Cup 2024 is around the corner as the ICC is closing on all the preparations for the tournament. The tournament will begin on 2nd June and will be played in the United States of America (USA) and the Caribbean with 20 teams taking part in it for the first time. 

The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Friday (May 24th) announced former Pakistan star Shahid Afridi as the brand ambassador of the tournament. However, this was highlighted by a journalist on his Twitter account who took a dig at Suresh Raina for that. 

He posted: "ICC has named Shahid Afridi as an ambassador for ICC T20 World Cup 2024. Hello Suresh Raina. 

Suresh Raina while recalling the 2011 World Cup reminded the fan about the India and Pakistan match in the same tournament, which India won. Quoting the Twitter user's comment, he stated: 

"I’m not an ICC ambassador, but I have the 2011 World Cup at my house. Remember the game at Mohali? Hope it brings back some unforgettable memories for you." 

This all started after Suresh Raina took a jibe at Shahid Afridi over during a match in the Indian Premier League. He was jokingly asked by a fellow commentator about taking back his retirement and playing cricket again. 

However, replying to this, Suresh Raina stated that he is not Shahid Afridi. The former Pakistan skipper took retirement multiple times and reversed the decision. This saw him getting criticized a lot by many fans and experts toom 

Suresh Raina said: "Suresh Raina hu, Shahid Afridi nahi" (I am Suresh Raina, not Shahid Afridi)." 

Gambhir’s mind has changed the fortunes of the franchise - Suresh Raina 

Suresh Raina recently praised Gautam Gambhir for the success of Kolkata Knight Riders in the league. He said that the mentor of the franchise doesn't give up easily and his arrival has paid rich dividends in this season for the team. 

Suresh Raina highlighted how Gautam Gambhir gives his everything for the franchise and said that his mind has changed the fortunes of the team. He added: 

"We have played a lot of cricket with Gautam Gambhir and he doesn’t give up in any situation. With his arrival, we have seen a change in the batting order and that has paid rich dividends in this season. 

“He was actively involved in the auction process and then worked on the combinations for the new season. Gambhir’s mind has changed the fortunes of the franchise." 

Gautam Gambhir's Kolkata Knight Knight has reached the final of the Indian Premier League 2024. They will be facing the winner of the Qualifier 2, which will take place on Friday (24th May) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
