T20 World Cup 2024: Watch - Rinku Singh includes Pakistan and snubs West Indies as he reveals his T20 WC semifinalists

India star Rinku Singh has revealed his pick for the semifinalists of the ongoing ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024. The ninth edition of the T20 World Cup got underway earlier this month.

A total of 20 teams are participating in the event that is being co-hosted by the United States of America and the West Indies. The teams have been divided into four groups of five teams each. The top two teams from each group will qualify for the Super 8s stage before the four semifinalists are decided.

With the tournament well underway, Rinku Singh has named the four teams that can make it to the semifinals. In a video posted by Kolkata Knight Riders, the southpaw started by picking Team India as the first semifinalist. He then went on to pick defending champions England, 2021 winners Australia, and last edition's runners-up Pakistan as the other three semifinalists.

Three of the four semifinalists predicted by Rinku Singh had qualified for the semifinals in the last edition of the T20 World Cup semifinals as well. India, Pakistan, and England had made it to the last four in the 2022 T20 World Cup while the fourth team was New Zealand. However, Rinku Singh believes that Australia will be replacing New Zealand in the semifinals lineup this year.

Meanwhile, India have started their campaign in the T20 World Cup with a win. The Rohit Sharma-led side thrashed Ireland by eight wickets in their World Cup opener on Wednesday (June 5). Bowling first, Team India bowled out for Ireland for a paltry total of 96 runs in 16 overs.

Hardik Pandya starred with the ball, taking 3 wickets for 27 wickets while Arshdeep Singh and Jasprit Bumrah picked up 2 wickets. In reply, India chased down the total inside 13 overs by losing two wickets. Captain Rohit Sharma led from the front, scoring 52 runs before retiring hurt. India will be in action next on Sunday (June 9) when they take on Pakistan.
