India's team will be under focus as the T20 World Cup 2024 is around the corner. The Rohit Sharma-led side is yet to win the ICC Trophy since 2013. They have been failing to handle the pressure at the big stages and this time around it will be a great opportunity for them to end the drought.
India recently faced a massive heartbreak when they lost the final of the ICC World Cup 2023. The tournament took place in India and they played like champions throughout. The Rohit Sharma-led side won 10 games on the trot before losing to Australia in the final at the Narendra Modi International Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Indian players will be heading into the T20 World Cup 2024 on the back of solid performances in the IPL. This time around, they have a combination of youth and experience in the team and they would be desperate to win the tournament and give fans something to cheer about.
Rohit Sharma will be leading the team in the T20 World Cup 2024. The opening batter would be hoping to lead from the front and take his team to the title win. He has been doing a decent job as a skipper but would be eager to get a title as a leader.
He can play till he is 50 - Yograj Singh on Rohit Sharma
Former India cricketer Yograj Singh talked about the possibility of Rohit Sharma playing for 50 years. He stated that if the batter focuses on his fitness, he can play for a long time. Speaking about the same, he elaborated:
"I feel that in Indian cricket, the age factor should be scrapped once and for all. Rohit Sharma and Viru [Virender Sehwag] are two such great players who have never thought about fitness and training. If he does, he can play till he is 50."
After the T20 World Cup 2024, India's next big task is the Border-Gavaskar Trophy on Australian soil. Following that Champions Trophy is also scheduled for early next year, along with the World Test Championship final.
