T20 World Cup semi-finalists confirmed; India along with these 3 teams to feature in the top 4 as predicted by Rashid Latif

As the group stage of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 is about to end, the teams for the Super Eight stage have already been finalized. Interestingly, both the hosts of the tournament West Indies and USA have made it to the next stage.

While West Indies were expected to make it to the Super Eight stage, the rise of the USA has been nothing short of a miracle. The USA surprised everybody with their performances and has garnered attention from all over the cricketing world. They caused a huge upset by defeating Pakistan, which paved the way for them to qualify for the Super Eight stage.

India and Pakistan were clear favorites to qualify from Group A but USA’s victory over Pakistan in the Super Over proved to be the turning point. Pakistan had their worst campaign in the T20 World Cup history.

After losing to the USA, they lost to arch-rivals India in a thrilling encounter in New York. The Men in Green won its next two games against Canada and Ireland but that was not enough to secure their qualification for the Super Eight.

Apart from Pakistan, another Asian team Sri Lanka also failed to qualify for the next stage. Sri Lanka had a disappointing tournament with two defeats at the hands of Bangladesh and South Africa. Their match against Nepal was washed out due to rain but they ended their campaign with a dominating victory over the Netherlands.

Rashid Latif picks his semi-finalists for T20 World Cup 2024

Former Pakistan cricketer Rashid Latif has surprised everybody by making bold predictions for the semi-finals. Interestingly, Latif selected Afghanistan over Australia and also excluded South Africa from the list. The four teams chosen by Rashid Latif are England, West Indies, India, and Afghanistan.

Australia qualified for the Super Eight stage by winning all of its matches. Meanwhile, Afghanistan has been in scintillating form as well. They have won all of their three matches so far in a dominating manner.

They will play the final group game against co-hosts West Indies on June 18 in St. Lucia. Both the teams have already qualified for the Super Eight stage but will look to continue their winning run.

The Super Eight stage of the T20 World Cup 2024 will start on June 19 with South Africa taking on the USA. All the eight teams have been divided into two groups. Group 1 involves Australia, India, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan. On the other hand, Group 2 involves South Africa, England, the West Indies, and the USA. The top two teams from each group will qualify for the semi-finals.

India will play its first match of the Super Eight stage against Afghanistan on June 20 in Barbados. Then, they will play Bangladesh in Antigua on June 22. India’s last Super Eight game will be against 2021 champions Australia on June 24 in St. Lucia.
