Former Bangladesh Cricket Team skipper Tamim Iqbal expressed his disappointment after the Pakistan National Cricket Team got eliminated from the T20 World Cup 2024. He backed them to come good in the next edition and also urged Shahid Afridi to show the team the way.

It has been a horrible campaign for the Pakistan National Cricket Team in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024. The Babar Azam-led side has suffered an early exit from the tournament as they failed to get going in the league stage and couldn't advance to the Super 8 stage of the tournament.

Coming into the T20 World Cup 2024, Pakistan were one of the hot favorites to win the title. Many fans and experts felt that with the kind of bowling lineup they have, they can win the tournament. But it wasn't the case as they came under pressure right from the start.

Pakistan had the worst possible start to their T20 World 2024 campaign. The Babar Azam-led side suffered a disappointing loss to the United States of America in their opening game. The associate nation drew the game and then won the match in the super-over, affecting the biggest upset in the history of the game.

It was expected that Pakistan would make a comeback in the tournament against India but it didn't happen. They came close to winning against India but couldn't finish on high. They lost the game from the winning position as Indian bowlers made a terrific comeback and won the game by 6 runs.

After that, they lost two out of their two games in the tournament, and they came under pressure. Pakistan kept themselves in contention as they then staged a comeback and won the game against Canada. But their qualification was dependent on the match between Ireland and the United States of America.

If Ireland had won the game, it would've kept the Babar Azam-led side in the tournament as they needed to win the match against Ireland to go through. However, with a game between the USA and Ireland getting washed out, it meant curtains for them.

United States of America leapfrogged them and qualified for the Super 8 stage of the tournament. They had 5 points to their name and the maximum Pakistan can get to is 4 points as they have lost two games already. They still have one match remaining against Ireland, which will be played on 15th June in Florida.

Tamim Iqbal wants Shahid Afridi to guide Pakistan to a good path

As Pakistan faced an early exit from the T20 World Cup 2024, Tamim Iqbal was left disappointed. He took to his Twitter account and posted that Shahid Afridi could guide them to a good path. He posted:

"Feel sad to see Pakistan get eliminated from T20 WC. Hope they come well next time and have seniors like @SAfridiOfficial to show the way."
