Tanvir Ahmed blasts PCB chief over potential appointment of Waqar Younis as Director of Cricket

Former Pakistan cricketer Tanvir Ahmed lashed out at the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) amid reports of Waqar Younis being appointed as the Director of Cricket affairs. He stated that now everyone would praise him and highlighted that he didn't do anything good when he was part of PCB earlier.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi is all set to take a massive step. As per the reports in PTI, it is learned that the head of the board will be handing all the cricket affairs to former Pakistan captain Waqar Younis, and he will only be handling administrative matters.

The source close to the Pakistan Cricket Board claimed that Chairman Mohsin Naqvi wants Waqar Younis to take responsibility and work with Gary Kirsten and Jason Gillespie to see both international and domestic cricket. He added while speaking to PTI:

"Waqar Younis is a top candidate to be handed over complete responsibility of looking after men's cricket, including liaising with the two foreign head coaches, national selectors and domestic cricket departments."

The source also added that Mohsin Naqvi doesn't want to centralize all powers as he wants someone to look after cricket affairs. He wants all the cricket schedules to be looked over by the director of cricket. He added:

"Naqvi doesn't want to centralise all powers as he wants to decentralise things, especially where cricket issues are concerned. In future, even international cricket schedules and issues would be looked over by the director of cricket. Being the federal interior minister, Naqvi believes that it is only fair that all cricket matters are handled by specialists and not only people in administration."

With reports of Waqar Younis getting the role of Director of Cricket affairs, former Pakistan cricketer Tanvir Ahmed highlighted how the former captain of the team didn't do anything good last time. Taking to his Twitter account, he explained:

What did he do in his last stint? They are all enjoying and now all of his friends and known ones will start praising him.)

The official confirmation related to this is yet to be announced. But Ii the reports emerge to be true, it will be a huge step in the Pakistan Cricket. The team has been under pressure for a while now because of their poor performances and they would be hoping that things change for them.

Pakistan National Cricket Team will be next seen in action during the Test series against Bangladesh National Cricket Team. The series will be played from 21st August to 3rd September.
